PHILOTES Ancient Coin Ring
These delicate rings feature the pressed relief of a Ancient Greek coin minted around 280BC. It is named after Philotes the Greek goddess of friendship and affection and it features two faces which were thought to represent the rising and setting of the sun and the meeting of two branches of a river, it’s also thought that they are the Dioscuri twins who later became known as the constellation Gemini. To me this coin brought to mind two friends lying next to each other in the park, laughing together and sharing secrets that only friends can share!
It is intentionally created to feature the melted molten droplets created as the hot coin is pressed in to the wax, each ring is hand made so will vary slightly to the ones pictured. They have a 1.5 mm band.
Available in Brass, Eco Sterling Silver and recycled 9ct Gold.
